Norman Seeff
Norman Seeff was born in South Africa and moved to the U.S in 1969 after an early career as a doctor in emergency medicine, specializing in the management of traumatic shock. Beginning a new career as a photographer and album cover designer in New York, he relocated to Los Angles in 1972 as creative director of United Artists and 2 years later opened an independent studio on the Sunset strip.
Seeff’s extensive body of work of photography includes sessions with hundreds of artists such The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Kiss, Van Halen, Blondie, Johnny Cash, Martin Scorsese, John Huston, Billy Wilder, Bob Fosse, Norman Mailer, Andy Wharhol, Sir Francis Crick, Magic Johnson, Joe Namath, Larry Bird, John Wayne, John Travolta, Steve Jobs, Alecia Keyes, will.iam etc. etc. Many of his photographs have achieved iconic status and reveal an authenticity that’s unique and timeless.
In the process of evolving his own creative process and using his interaction with artists to explore creativity in action from the inside out, Seeff began filming his sessions in 1975. Shifting his focus to film making, Seeff has to date documented over 400 sessions with musicians, film directors, writers, actors, comedians, athletes, entrepreneurs, aerospace engineers and scientists and the process continues.
